As i am older now, i almost only play games that i've had for many years. SOmetimes i'll play a game that is how it was left a decade ago, but i tend to go back to games that either have an active mod community that is keeping things fresh, or the developer is still active and releasing updates.

I also enjoy helping people learn technology to be in power of what they do.
I've told people before when I was giving volunteer computer training, "You are taught to read AND write. You should also learn to manage technology, not just be a consumer of it."

If you have the ahrd drive space, you can set up a dual boot, so that you can switch back any time you need. The past ~18 months, i only boot in to Windows to run updates. You of course have to adjust expectations, and not everyone's needs are met by Linux, but there is a chance.

A restaurant would be good, constant flow of people. I'd probably choose a modern library, unlikely to be any ghosts, but still lots of people, and stuff to read.

I only said that as a kid because it was one of the few instruments my mother didn’t play, so she wouldn’t be comparing my ability to hers all the time… “At your age I could play …”

I wish there was a reliable filter for all sports. :) I don’t begrudge sports enthusiasts at all, I like things others don’t. I just couldn’t care less. :)

Even open source can fall victim to this sometimes. Fortunately, if a corporation buys an open source product and locks it down, it is because it is popular. Which often means there is someone that will split the last open source version to a new name and keep it going.

Agreed, so very cool! I spent so much time going back and forth. "Oh, that looks wrong, and i can't get it out of my head, have to bail out, fix the position, rebuild, load back in..."

Based on what I’ve seen from attending comic cons around the US, that is a wise state of mind to be in. :)

I keep hearing this from all the LinkedIn people. My 30 years of IT means nothing if I can’t be an excellent marketer slinging my “personal brand”. :(

I've always believed the family dynamic to be backwards. Children shouldn't be slaves to parents, but the other way around. They didn't ask to be there, and they shouldn't just be there to serve the parents. (and unfortunately the generational trauma continues as they repeat that flawed expectation)
