Thinking and doing so is okay; you are free to believe whatever you'd like. Don't use it to justify anything or make others follow or believe whatever it is based on "that's what he/she would have wanted."

Personally, sometimes this is hard, cos I like to empathize by sharing a what I deem a related story to show that I’m paying attention and I hear them, which I know can easily be misconstrued as decentering.
