Maisy Stella’s acting debut blew me away in this heartwarming story about the fears and realities of growing up, falling in love, and losing things that are important. LGBTQ representation was great but the film also showed how complicated love can be. 5/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReview #MyOldAss

Theo James pulls off epic shit as a duke who gets unintentionally entangled in the massive drug operation running in his basement. Lots of twists and turns, jerks and jolts, chicken suits and evil bastard torturers. Typical Guy Ritchie stuff. And Gus Fring is in it! 4/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReview

A stuck-up Australian anesthesiologist discovers she was adopted, and her biological family is a mess of red-haired, car-racing bogans. A tug-of-war ensues between the families, ending in hilarity. Adoptive mum Margaret and weirdo sons Oscar and Kayne are brilliant. 4/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReview

Congrats, Amerikkka. That set of shiny white oligarchs you ordered from Temu has shipped and will be delivered on January 20. Hope you enjoy them. You got exactly what you paid for. #Amerikkka #oligarchy #eattherich

#Landman is a frothy blend of opulent Texas cheese, Friday-Night-Lights vibes, visceral violence and a whole lotta Billy Bob Thornton being a bombastic badass. I could’ve done without some of the whiny women, but Ali Larter can scream obscenities in my face anytime. 4/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReview

Baby Reindeer was nothing like I expected: Two unstable, co-dependent people controlled by their inner demons do mad shit and completely destroy each other. I couldn’t look away from this trainwreck that got more visceral and gut-wrenching with each escalation.

We Are Lady Parts. My favorite show I watched in 2024. Four Muslim women form a punk band in the UK. Hilarious and deliciously woke songs. Badass acting. Great storyline. Stellar representation. I want season 3, but they tied everything up, so I doubt we’ll get it. 5/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReviews

What We Do in the Shadows. I adore this show. I’m so sad to see it go, but they gave it a fun, very meta send off. I love how they developed Colin Robinson this season, but they did Nadja dirty by making her a caricature. Nandor and Guillermo’s ending was perfect. 5/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReviews

True Detective: Night Country. This shit is the absolute BOMB. Jodie Foster is spectacular as always, but I fell hard for Kali Reis. There was a lot of what-the-fuckery happening throughout the season, but that ending gave me chills in the very best way. LOVED it. 5/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReviews

Supacell. Black superheroes in London with nary a white person in sight? FUCK YEAH. This show has everything: turf wars, freaky yellow eyes, superpowers, a scientific tie-in, and a potentially tragic love story that carries the whole thing. Can’t wait for season 2! 5/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReviews

The Substance. My kids and the youth in my Entertainment & Media Studies classes talked me into this one. I appreciate what they were going for, but I don’t need 16 endings to a movie that get progressively more ridiculous with each iteration. Must be a Gen Z thing. 3/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReview

Shrinking. If you want to bawl your fucken eyes out, watch this show. It has some of the best writing I’ve ever seen on TV—especially the season 2 finale. I was an absolute mess after watching it. Jessica Williams, Harrison Ford & Jason Segel deserve all the awards. 5/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReview

La La Land. Was the cinematography stunning? YES. Were the dancing and singing awesome? YES. Was the acting spectacular? YES. Did I like it. NOPE. The writing killed this one for me. HaTeD the ending. Viscerally. Why build us up like that only to tear it all down? 3/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReview

The Penguin. I had low expectations for this one, but FUCK, it’s one of the best series on TV. Christin Millioti steals the show in quiet but vicious fashion. Kudos to Colin Farrell for making Oz an absolute goddamn fucking psycho that we can’t help but root for. 5/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReview

Only Murders in the Building. With countless twists and turns, this show never lets me down. I love trying to figure out whodunnit, but the best part is Oliver, Charles, and Mabel’s intergenerational friendship. They’re the perfect squabbling (but loving) family. 4/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReview

Nutcrackers. I wanted a holiday movie and was pleasantly surprised by this one. It wasn’t nearly as over-the-top as some Ben Stiller flicks, but it had a few wild moments. The kids stole the movie. I laughed. I cried. I laughed some more. Lots of heart in this one! 4/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReview

Lower Decks. End of an era. Not as good as previous seasons, but the opening storyline with Tendi/the Orions and the last two episodes were the best of the bunch. The finale was a great send off. I’m sad to see the Cerritos go, but hopefully, we’ll see them again. 4/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReview

Loot. This season wasn’t as good as previous ones, but goddamn, I love Maya Rudolph & Michaela Jaé Rodriguez. Kudos to the writers for not mentioning whether Michaela’s character is trans. Not relevant to her story. “Billionaires shouldn’t exist” = new rallying cry. 4/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReview

The Last of Us. I never played the game, but I decided if Bella Ramsey and Pedro Pascal are involved, so am I. This show generally blew my fucken mind, but the best episode was the one where Ron Swanson gets it on with a dude. It was starkly beautiful. Made me cry. 4/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReview

The Holdovers. Paul Giamatti & Davine Joy Randolph shine in this throwback to the 70s. The acting is fantastic, and the vibe is palpable. You can almost smell the booze, cigarette smoke, and leaded gas. With nostalgia and gobs of heart, it’s a perfect holiday movie. 4/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReview

The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin. Noel Fielding and his band of adorable misfits do funny, medieval shit in the most British way Brits can Brit. The conflicts may have low stakes, but it’s still an enjoyable watch. And it was renewed for season 2! 4/5 martinis #DrunkOldBroadReview
