Many serial killers are both and do both to the same person. Or switch between. I understand you point and it is very valid but there is multiple angles to look at this from. I have heard victims of abuse say they wish they had have died yet others they fought to survive and glad to still be alive.

It depends on context, perception, situation and what you regard as a Serial killer. Also what one serial killer is capable of is worse and more efficient. And it's also down to the amount of accuracy pear hunt. But let's face it governments are more dangerous over all
