I'm new here, and so is my attitude, so far so good
This was terrific. Some laugh out loud moments which earned me a few odd looks in traffic on my commute.
As far as viewing corporations as monarchies, surely that falls apart when one considers the shareholders in a corporation?

Interestingly enough, the current Supreme Court also bases many of its decisions on an imaginary conversation between two of the founding fathers

"is it me or is it getting warm in here?", one frog said to another as they sat in the pot...

America needs a supreme Court, it's baked into their democracy and provides vital checks and balances. That being said, what America has is not a supreme court, it's a rubber stamp. They need to reform and pack it rather than abolish it, and we'd better pray it doesn't occur to Trump to do it for us

That would imply that they were ever working in the interests of the state?

I don't think Trump cares at all whether anyone loves or respects him, only that they make a show of it

Trump does exactly that. It's just a shame that his moral compass is more of a gold detector

SpaceX enjoys billions in US govt funding while its obscenely wealthy CEO gads about with a prop chainsaw cutting important scientific research, civil infrastructure and much much more from the govt budget.

I'll be amazed if this schism lasts until the next election. They need each other and let's face it, they deserve each other

And I'm blocked.
Wow

Have a look at how easy it is to turn this testing against its good intentions.
The supreme Court has done just that with affirmative action, among other things.
Saying you're ok with restricting democracy, as long as it's in your favor, makes you no better than your enemies.

A fair assessment but maybe the solution is not more restrictions on voting rights?
Maybe the Byzantine restrictions on voting need to be removed instead?
The GOP has worked at disenfranchising large segments of the public for decades now.
If everyone actually voted, you'd be better off, surely?

This is actually an improvement on Clive's last attempt when he ended up getting Ralph Babet elected.

If they do backflip -again- on renewables, they will lose Gina, Rupert and so on and they will be truly stuffed anyway

He wants those degens to go it alone, and thinks they have a chance at cracking the city electorates. 😆😂😆
