New paper led by @stubutchart.bsky.social reviews the history of the Red List Index. This global biodiversity indicator provides trends in the aggregated extinction risk of species. It is used to monitor progress towards global biodiversity goals including by the Convention on Biological Diversity.
20 yrs ago I started comparing the 3 lists of threatened birds BirdLife had published and working out overall trends.
