yeah i didnt figure it out but it solved itself
so essentially what happened was: i boot into the chimera linux install media and /dev/sda doesnt exist (i have two sata drives, /dev/sda shouldve existed (or so i think) cause i could still access the drives through /dev/disk/by-uuid a[...]

ended up just going with artix (tried chimera, tried to try ewe but couldn't get it on to my USB drive properly)
