He walked until he was lost. He was bleeding already; his blood left a trail on the moss behind him. The moss forgot his footprints but remembered his blood The boy looked at the trees. Will I become another wind chime here, limbs clattering together in the wind? The pain in his chest, in his wrists, was just enough to keep him moving forward. It felt like his ears were full of water, full of pressure, and swirling, muffled sound. He would not look over his shoulder. He would not look over his shoulder. He would not look over his shoulder.
