I know! Many things can be true at the same time. Developers are able to operate like they do for a variety of reasons but it basically comes down to: because we allow it.

I will say, ONE good thing that came from them was why doesn’t our city have any type of displacement fund? They mentioned another city they worked in (maybe NYC but my memory isn’t clear). We have nothing & each time people are displaced, our homeless population & the trauma increases.

I can never decide if it’s comforting or depressing that we aren’t special and it’s almost the same in every major city in the country 😭

Not speaking to the current situation, not interested in a back and forth about it. But just saying, these are incredibly wealthy Hampton-esque bros who wanted others to do the dirty work for them. Not necessarily different from many other developers, just my experience with them.

I also had experience with them. They basically wanted to pay the organization I was working for to displace everyone in the mobile home park so they didn’t have to 😬 Obviously, we did not do that.

Criminalization and involuntary commitment of individuals experiencing homelessness will also skyrocket. The Notice of Funding Opportunity that dropped Friday was a bomb. It was as bad as we expected. We will lose DOZENS of caseworkers, outreach workers… it cannot be overstated how bad this will be.

imho since DT is already involved this race, those that hate Harris & Jones are already activated. There’s a reason why Jones will never endorse Aftyn and I assume Harris is being your typical establishment dem - Aftyn is “too radical”.
