Some things are a struggle for me. I'm learning to slow down & even stop. I'm almost finished the de-cluttering & retirement cleaning. I got myself a new bed!! I've been baking: sourdough, apple pie & prepping from the garden. My workshop is almost sorted, I love having a place to create.

Schmetterling is coming along, if I can manage some sexy welds with deep penetration, she may make an appearance.
Yesterday, was a success, I broke 2- 3/8" bits & 5 blades on "Arnold," my recip saw, & was able to cut off the 8 short pipes from the chassis & drill the steel door for the lock. 🥰

The apple harvest was pretty good this year. 5 Apple Fritter Loafs, 4 apple crumbles, & 9 pies. Whew it took days to process.

I have been de-cluttering my home & deep cleaning for most of June, August, and September: 4 trips to zero waste, 3 trips to the green waste, & and a few to the dump. I needed to remove a rose that had taken over my roof. I also needed to clean up some building materials & sort teaching resources.

I raced over to check on the mason bees. A crew of kids followed me. Funny little furry baby bee faces were chewing out of there cocoons. With a stick, I got 1 out, and into the open palm of a child. It hatched instantly! Then it pooped on another boy’s hand. This filled our morning with fun news.

Re-storing the garden
I’ve been happily digging through mountains of poop, soil, & clay. I’m inspired to gift my school a magical wild space to play. I’m ordering plants today. Already, children are making a bug and mud villages. They are serious about this work, finding bugs and worms to live in their villages.

I’m going to start collecting produce stickers from different countries. I’ve seen Moroccan oranges and lots of Mexican produce. It could be a fun project.

Our field trip to the salmon hatchery was so much fun! Only lost 1 kid and 1 teacher to a cold plunge in the stream. Soggy & cold - good thing I was right there to pull the child out. We still had fun.

The sunshine was out today, so I had a chance to play in the garden. It’s a fresh start garden, something completely new. I have just solved a problem. Privacy & light. Morning glory prevention. Lots of veggies and flowers this year. New pollinator plants, because butterflies.

I’m grateful for my cat Phobos. He’s a great big smooshie cuddle love, who doesn’t understand why we can’t just cuddle all day.
During these times of existential dread we all need connection. I wish I was with someone, who would hold me through all this fear. I’m looking for that person.

Well the tank clean up went well, sadly, we’ve lost another 6 salmon. I’ve changed the water 3 times & added chemicals. I counted 30 left. 😳

I’m avoiding going to work today, seeing that it’s my vacation. I’ve gotta check on the salmon alevin. We lost 16 last week. I’m trying to save the rest of them.

We lost about 10 of our baby salmon. Their bellies are huge & they get stuck if they swim away from the redd. The ammonia spiked and we lost them. They are so fragile. Life really is.
