Note: I’m mostly on bluesky now, but this is the fediverse, which means you don’t have to go to bluesky, you can just follow me via bridgy!

afaict all comments, likes and boosts seem to propagate fine (unlike threads)

there’s a rumor going strong in NC that your vote won’t be counted if you vote on election day. afaict it seems like it’s an extension of Hurricane Helene misinformation, that the system is too overloaded to count votes

Stuff like this makes me wonder why TSMC isn’t spreading manufacturing over even more countries. Seems like their bottlenecks rn are access to talent and political dynamics […]

not a fan of all those Jensen Huang management praise takes

he’s not a bad CEO, per se, but NVIDIA’s success was more just being lucky and Huang not completely dropping the ball. Not sure that puts him in the management hall of fame

we need an LSP for AI

it’s cool and all that Github is catching up with Cursor, competition is great. But I really just want to use anything other than VS Code

word is Harris won’t be doing the Joe Rogan show because she’s focusing on demographics she’s already doing well with

It’s solid reasoning and absolutely the right call, but I still hate the decision. That would’ve been an epic podcast.

Who’s at #allthingsopen today? Anyone I know?

for Christmas this year, i wish for all those failed crypto companies to leak their #rust source code into The Pile or any of the big #llm training dataset so we can actually get decent Rust #ai support

a couple weeks ago my Trumpy brother announced on the family text thread that he doesn’t have time to be aware of all the shitty things Trump does

so i’m fixing that. i’ve spent the last couple weeks sending news updates, clearly articulated from the perspective of his values

every post has […]

inference-time alignment through “nudging”

they train a much smaller “aligned” model and integrate it into the #llm sampler, where it’s allowed to emit a few tokens to nudge the model back to clarity

sometimes i have to ask the 4yo the same question with slightly different wording a few times to get her actual opinion, which makes me think she’s just an LLM

#rustlang is starting to occupy the same place in the #ml & #ai ecosystem that C++ currently serves. Cool to see!

someday i want to launch a website and only provide AAAA records for IPv6 support. i’m curious how many issues i’d run into

OpenAI is on their way out

- reduced Microsoft support
- mass exodus or talent
- Sam Altman’s obsession with World (coin)
- o1 was renamed from GPT5

is this a controversial take?

Plato’s allegory of the cave is such a good analogy for how people interpret LLMs and what they do. No one is seeing the real thing, but everyone interprets what they see differently. To some, it’s plainly obvious

what is the easiest way to build an app frontend (backend is a web service) that runs native-ish on all these platforms:

- iOS
- Android
- Windows
- MacOS
- Linux (ideally)
- web

And how do you handle distribution?

this weekend at a wedding, i pointed at a dish of brilliant red raw tuna poke and exclaimed to my very-midwestern uncle, “i love fresh tomato! fresh tomato is great!”

he took some and downed the entire dish

i don’t think he’s ever had sushi, sashimi or anything of the sort, or i assume, based […]

one thing Threads is good for is baiting people

Technically you can bait people into conversation anywhere, but in Threads it’s easy to do it masterfully, so to speak

Seriously, I did a few drafts of this, “nice, but how could i make it dumber? how could the question be more infuriating?”

it […]

my plan until election day, for conservative family & friends:

now-Oct 25ish: Overload them with 8 years of crazy stuff Trump has done. I don’t even have to make stuff up, just sent actual news clips with quotes & videos of him

Oct 25-finish: shift into how great Harris is. Overload them with […]
