I have an artist friend I commission the artwork from. I love seeing the new work she creates every year 😊

I usually include an overview of total hours, total projects, and total income, then I do a breakdown of each by client. After that, I review how many hours I averaged per week, and how many overall days I worked. Sometimes I also include how many projects I had / hours I worked each month.

It depends a bit on the client. But for me personally, if it’s been two years, I think that’s worthy of consideration.

A10: I always tell myself I’ll take a week off between Christmas and New Year’s, and I almost always inevitably end up working a bit anyway. 😅 #ACESChat

A8: I include a rate review in my end-of-year report. Since most of my clients are publishers, they set the rate, but if it has been a while since the last increase, I make a note to reach out about a rate inquiry. I’ve had success with that in the past, and it doesn’t hurt to ask. #ACESChat

A9: I send out an end-of-year e-card with custom artwork to let each client know how much I enjoyed working with them throughout the year. #ACESChat

A4: My main focus is to plan how to balance income with time off. I want to reach certain goals, while making sure I don’t burn myself out. Freelancing makes it way too easy to work through the weekends, so part of my yearly review is making sure to have a plan for achieving that balance. #ACESChat

A2: I like to create a “year in review” report for myself, calculating my overall hours, and average hours worked per week, per project, and per client. This breakdown helps me figure out if I want to make any adjustments in my approach to the projects I accept in the coming year. #ACESChat
