Very nostalgic to be back at the University of Birmingham today. A peaceful morning stroll before presenting at the #ImageAndAuthority workshop.

Beautiful weather with scattered showers led to this amazing little one waking up for its journey. It reminds me of my writeup progress over the past couple of weeks. However, sometimes we need to move slowly to achieve great distances. #snailspace #snail #nature #phdwriteup #phdlife #garden

Assyrian King Ashurnasirpal II (883-859 BCE) is depicted on this gypsum stela, 9th Century BCE. Another fascinating encounter at the British Museum, ME 118805.

From a 2019 visit to the MET, a statue of Egyptian King Mentuhotep II ca. 2030 BCE. There is a brilliance to the sandstone his form appears softened and fragile yet it has been raised upright to be observed for eternity. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, no. 1926(26.3.29).
