Instead of looking left to find blame for the death of Kirk, perhaps the trumper focus should be on the very far right itself. Old piece here, but sounds relevant. www.mediamatters.org/white-nation...

What are they up to with this? I have absolutely no trust in anything coming out of his mouth or this administration. Trying to look at his big picture and how he’d make it to his advantage.

I'm a behavior "analyst" by nature & profession. When remediating a problem behavior, it's not enough to react to the immediate behavior but necessary to find the antecedent cause. What I see now w/ Trump are reactions to "his" policies but not actions that will expose his influencers. 1/

@jesseschecker.bsky.social wrote about HB 123. Committee chairs can let this bill die by not putting it on their agenda. School Boards today buy property based on community growth and future needs; HB 123 would limit their ability to do that. It’s a horrible bill.

Agree. He has an audience as well. His countrymen don’t want to see their President groveling before a Putin lackey. Their determination is grounded in their national pride. Zelensky powerfully vindicated that today. To see your President stand up to the two greatest powers in the world? Priceless.

Yep. It's an ABC book with such pithy helpful phrases as "Opportunity over Obstruction" and "Maturity over Mar A Lago." Touted as a road map for a brighter American future and warns of the perils of taking a different path. Well, simple enough, very helpful, Hakem.

Do they fear for their lives more than their seats? Just read the UnPopulist:Trump's America is in a Free Fall....
Suggest this is the "most underestimated element in the current crisis..."
How do we combat this in order to restore some semblance of checks and balances? Not rhetorical question
Folks, get mad and stay mad. Republicans have the power to stop a lot of Trump's bullshit but they will only do it if they fear for their seats.
Elon Musk is cratering in polls:

WaPo: Only 34% approve of Musk's role, 63% worry about his data access

CNN: 54% say it's bad Musk was given a big role

Majorities disapprove of Trump in CNN, WaPo, Gallup.

On the pod, @juliaazari.bsky.social is great on all this:

Dems: sit with this.

2024 battleground voters (w/ an oversample of Latinos) self-identified as right-of-center and placed themselves a full point closer to Trump than Harris (who they saw as about as extreme as Trump).

Moving further left is not how we win back those voters.
