It's a little grim to keep featuring new Robert Sietsema bylines based on historic work when he was unceremoniously laid off months ago.

Chuck keeps calling his senator to demand action but always gets a busy signal.
Congress must take action to restore the rule of law.

It's real hard to fight off despair but we must.
My first and definitely last time working with the Los Angeles Times. Editing out the most urgent point of an OpEd in the minutes before sending to press while then also assigning a title and image that suggest an argument entirely opposite to the author’s clear intent is pretty shitty.

Glad to see the media has learned nothing in 8 years.

David Lynch is gone, and the world is poorer because of that fact. But what a trove he left us. We are blessed to have witnessed his sui generis.

We will forever benefit from the artists who draw inspiration from him, including the countless creators who don't even know he inspired them.

Watch Megalopolis and watch TWIN PEAKS season 3 episode 8 to understand how singular Lynch was in his ability to conjure the surreal make it more empathetic than anything real - and what happens when others try.

While there's the top-level thematic inspiration that David Lynch inspired in filmmakers, I think his approach to art, which was pure of heart and relentless curiosity, has an incalculable affect anyone who witnessed it. His impact will only grow. Our collective riches will flow forever.

Theater was so still during Zone of Interest, you could occasionally hear faint singing from the Wonka screening next door - just added to the overall unease of the whole thing.

Thanks to the Bear for simply demonstrating how many dramatic, slow songs R.E.M. created that are better than Losing My Religion.

Half a World Away > Stranger Currencies > trillion-point gap > Losing My Religion.

And, for the record, So. Central Rain is the best of them all.

I think the Bear is so good because each character is an exaggerated form of a character trait we all have within ourselves.
