Totally feathered up and living on the dub side
This story is haunting. Dark stuff.

We love our Ioniq 5. My only tip is to find a YouTube video called “Ioniq 5 dog mode” which is handy if you need to leave a dog in the car with climate control on. It’s a bit unintuitive to set up, so the video is helpful.

Yes, slog is great, love the simplicity of it.

Same in Nelson, BC. Increased caffeine intake compensates for lack of sun 🙃

Get off the plane, get your bags shipped from the airport to your hotel, and then hop on the high speed rail or whatever with just a day pack or carry-on.

It works because *everyone* is doing it. So these auxiliary services appear, which in turn make car-free easier and more delightful.

Really noticed in Japan the positive feedback of having such a huge majority using transit. For example, it's trivial, cheap and fast to have your luggage shipped anywhere in the country, so that you don't need to drag your bags around. Makes transit just... such a lovely experience.

It felt like the scene in zombie films where the virus is spreading through the population, and the news feeds show scene after scene of unspeakable violence and gore.

A tour through Hell, but in an app popular with young people.

The whole thing was surreal and dystopian.

I had similar experiences early in my career. And really, controlling people show up in all kinds of relationships. Recognizing the signs, managing the relationship, knowing when enough is enough, and feeling empowered enough to extricate oneself, it's an important life skill.

There's an authoritarian / controlling personality type that is (as one would expect) overrepresented in business and political leadership.

But maybe there's a certain kind of sociopathy that's unique to tech and startup founders?

Good reminder that so many vaccine hesitant folks are not willing to (literally) die on this hill. They are doing self-interested risk assessment under uncertainty, and are persuadable.

Seems like the previous strategy to making LLMs smarter (bigger models, more data) may have plateaued, and this is the new paradigm?

The anti-maskers I know 100% identify as earthy, spiritual heroes, and see gov't mandates as decrees of the Empire / the Capitol.

I think that stories of revolution told in this way are part of the problem, but I don't know of an alternative. They are just so darn appealing.

A key part of the appeal and mythology of these kinds of films, is that the heroes are wholesome country folk fighting wealthy technologically superior elites who want to dictate, from far away in their decadent urban enclaves, how the country folk should live.
