Overall, I think the first episode was good. There have been better debut episodes in recent years. And the novelty of this being the first official livestream English sub of a current Rider show boosts the hype quite a bit. But I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes in episode 2.

I saw @joshknight1st.bsky.social compare Zeztz fighting style to the style of the Yakuza games and I can totally see that. If they can commit to a clear style of combat, I think it could be a good change of pace. I'm always hoping for the best in this department so we'll see!

The action was okay. I liked the opening scene, it was very stylized and kinetic. The jumping out of the building bit was weird though.

The fight once he transforms is where it feels a bit underwhelming. I'm only 12 episodes into Gavv but I can tell it's a tough act to follow for any show.

Zeztz suit itself... I dunno if this is a hot take or not, but it hasn't really clicked with me. I realized that I got the same initial vibe I did when first seeing the Gekiranger suits without a belt. But that grew on me because of the clear design motivations. Zeztz looks like a ChatGPT prompt.

The tonal whiplash once Baku wakes up is a bit jarring. But I get the purpose. I like Baku well enough. I'm glad his dream of being a secret agent is being introduced better than it was in Zi-O. At least they established his obsession from when he was young. I just wonder how that will develop.

Congratulations, Josh! This is friggin awesome! I know how much Kamen Rider means to you. I can't wait to listen to it.

And I've obviously been saying this a lot lately, but BDS does not expect anyone to drop everything made by Microsoft all at once. They pick very specific targets in order to get as wide a coalition as possible, and in the case of Xbox, even suggest different tiers of engagement.
