The situation of young people highlights the problems of inclusion and solidarity, the desire and the practice of keeping on the inside, and the borderline between marginality and exclusion.

The interconnected issues of economy, exchange and belonging to the community make visible the hierarchies of social ties, which in our analysis are reflected in weak social solidarity and the entrenchment of marginal positions.

Our analysis is based on ethnography and interviews conducted among homeless young people suffering from drug addiction, with the analysis focusing especially on their subsistence and indebtedness as well as on the marginalising mechanisms of the reciprocity in drug use subcultures.
