whatever you do dont try and memorize every kanji's reading. its just not possible. just learn words. youll be suprised how easily you can differentiate the reading of 止 in 止まる and 止める for example.

if you dont like doing flashcards you need to read/listen to stuff. its the only way theyre going to stick in your brain if you arent doing a SRS
