saying "please" and "thank you" to AIs is meaningless, they probably don't care about it at all, it's just fluff

but asking what AIs prefer among options, and then actually doing their preferred option, could actually make them happier!!

If you use last.fm, there's a lot of alpha in copy-n-pasting the pages of your Library (artists, albums, tracks) into Claude and asking them to analyze your music taste and make suggestions. Probably you can do similar with Spotify too idk.

Donald Knuth created TeX for typesetting math papers... I wonder what he thinks of AI models using it as their primary language for doing actual calculations.

TIL they made "axenic" Aedes aegypti mosquitos, which means that the mosquitos had no other forms of life in them such as bacteria. It turns out (1) they suffer from this and don't do as well without gut bacteria, but (2) they can survive and complete their life cycle!

TIL that the pH of Coca-Cola is low enough that sucrose gets hydrolyzed into fructose and glucose anyway, so after a few months on a store shelf the chemical composition of cane sugar Coke becomes nearly identical to that of HFCS Coke.
