Yes, until the police can disentangle themselves from an increasingly militaristic state, they are part of the problem.

There’s no evidence the protests will be violent, so that’s a poor assumption. The lane I expect them to be in is doing their jobs. If that means getting their feelings hurt because people are rightfully angry, that’s part of the job. It’s an opportunity prove they’re here to “serve and protect.”

How about instead, just step up protection at these legal and constitutionally protected events? The answer cannot be “don’t protest.”
