Vac in April I was 5 away from a 100 streak when I got sick and couldn’t play for a few days. Today I made it at last!

My fish is out of the bisque & ready for glazing. Disaster struck just prior as I was fitting the base to the greenware; it toppled & the left fin broke off. Sigh. I’m still darn proud of him, though.

He’s finally ready to have a long rest on the shelf to dry. Plenty of time to figure out how in the heckaroony I’m going to glaze him 😬😬😬 #pottersofbluesky #handbuiltpottery #pottery

Current piece—a fun fish for a birthday gift (if all goes well). #pottery #handbuiltpottery #pottersofbluesky

Working on a class project: a candle holder stack. There’s a lot I’d do differently; chiefly pay closer attention to size ratios to for harmony & balance. The glazing was lazy as well. #pottersofbluesky #pottery #handbuiltpottery

One of my latest. Mayco Denim Blue 2x under Northern Lights 1x. I think NL 2x would have been better. But I’m happy, nonetheless. #pottery #pottersofbluesky

Not exactly what I expected to see come out of the kiln, but close enough 🥸 Pinch pot espresso cups; Mayco glazes: 3x Burnished Steel outside the strip; 1x Burnished Steel under 2x Lady Bug. Fired at ^04. Were I to do this again, I’d use only Lady Bug in the strip, or use it over a darkish red.

I am happy with these experiments. I’d welcome any tips on how to get a hand built globe as round as possible.

Wellp. I have to keep reminding myself that I am a beginner at pottery. I try to get “fancy” & end up with fails. The mug is ok but nothing like
I thought it would be-I was going for frozen pond; the espresso cups weep & are full of pinholes. Sigh.

My wee pinch pot espresso cups got prematurely fired—I like the denim blue (Mayco); however I was going to add 2 coats of Patina. Such are the hazards of a community potter lab. I’m not happy with the handles-I haven’t been able to mastered them yet. Oy.

A few WIPs out of the bisque fire & ready for their glow up!

It’s Caturday-a very important day, now more’n ever. Here’s my Idabelle watching mouse tv.

Waiting for the espresso cups to dry, then all into the bisque. The stopper on the bottle broke along with my little Eeyore plaque when someone moved the tray and it got knocked over. Hazards of a community studio.

Two more WIPs. A pair of pinch pot espresso cups.

She’s spouted and burnished & settled on a shelf to finish drying. This is my first attempt at a vase— I’m kinda proud of her. Named her “ Marianne after learning about Marianne Faithful’s death today.

Two works in progress. Both are 1st timers—in that it’s the first time making a bottle & a vase. Will post updates as they happen.

I’m a newbie at pottering. At 73 I started playing in the mud only a year ago. Pics are of some of what I’ve done so far.
