and perhaps it was naive of me but i had absolutely no concerns about mensah going in. the casting was excellent and clearly she is the heart of preservation!!! and they still messed that up somehow. something something men always finding their way underneath the lowest bar

the throuple thing has pmo since they teased it in that prerelease interview bc god forbid any story not have a romance subplot. then they had the gall to make it terrible which is kind of incredibly incompetent seeing how i could prob be convinced of almost any presaux combo. and they fumbled it.

haha no youre fine i love to read crit and agree with all points. i havent interacted even a bit with the fandom but im not surprised 😮‍💨 i always hope that a high women/men ratio means more women appreciation but it never does.

all the "just think of it as fanfiction!!!" arguments make me laugh tho bc like there is a lot of dogshit fic out there that i talk shit on just as much so what kind of defense is that??? haha

in the end im happy for m.wells to get the kind of recognition she's deserved for decades and the show was...watchable. but it feels made for "oo robot" people and not those who appreciated the heavy women/minority gender/LGBT focus of the novellas.

yeah its def dissonant to me. it feels like the showrunners assumed that the existing fanbase would just be grateful to get anything so they could tone down the diversity and re-angle to target the stereotypical "sff guy" audience and IT BAFFLES!!

feels like a "had to pick a man" thing and dastmalchian did sell it. im just not buying

literallyyyyyy the only thing i actively like about him was how he showed up ready to help mb hide a body in fugitive telemetry but beyond that......he's just kinda there

at least we get ART........but at what cost....

when the series is adapted by two dudes and they choose to center a random man instead of mensah 😔
