Ditto but maroon with subtle grey piping around the crew neck collar. Merino naturally. My good lady wife's friend used to design for them and was always getting samples, quite a few of which found their way to me.

In the UK, I was lucky enough to read an article about this new 'phenomenon of modern television' in the Sunday newspaper just before it aired. I was instantly intrigued, so recorded and watched every episode (as I lived with my parents at the time who would not have been good viewing companions).

Richard, how right you are. He's one of my favourite authors writing currently and this put me in mind of another, William Boyd. The chapter in Auvergne that gives the novel its title was so beautifully written.
