Absolutely unironically love it, even if I totally get why others wouldn’t. Part of it is that Bob is having an absolute blast the entire time

This - the first few books are revelatory in that in the mud perspective, and the remainder of the series is admirable in changing viewpoints and interrogating itself. The Vlad Taltos books are the only other series so interested in questioning the form of a fantasy story imo

A group of parents in my daughter’s middle school were irate that they were teaching Korean instead of Spanish, and the degree to which I disagree is intense. Utility and fluency is not the goal! Just let them think orthogonally!
