The emails I’m regularly sending my representatives these days are some of my best writing.
For part of their midterm, my 10th grade honors students read “The Lottery” by Shirley Jackson and wrote an essay about it. Yesterday their class-starter was to tell me what they thought of the story. One response: “It was solid, but it’s a bad rip off of The Hunger Games.”
