Kids Count on Us
@kcoumn.bsky.social
We are a coalition of MN community-based childcare providers, teachers & parents who believe that all children deserve high-quality care & workers deserve thriving wages and benefits. We're organizing together to transform how we do childcare.
But that’s not who we are. We stand together, and we won’t let people who have never stepped foot into a childcare program define us as anything else.

To be called criminals is gross. To be questioned on the legitimacy of our programs is gross. To not have access to the childcare our kids thrive in, just because some legislators want to use us as political football, is GROSS. #mnleg is using the critical, sacred work we do as a game.

Parents juggle work, school, hard financial decisions, scary choices, and having a childcare program we trust to bring our kids to during the day relieves so much worry. We love the teachers who love our kids. We love the other kids in our child’s program.

We spend our own money on winter clothes for the kids who don’t come to school with them. We go home wondering what kind of curriculum we can use to help that one preschooler get better at writing his name.

Grateful for the everyday heroes that are the childcare providers protecting children and families. ❤️

Imagine what the world could be if we spent the billions of dollars going to ICE instead to #fundchildcare

40,000 workers lost in a field where the most consistent issue is staffing shortages. Make it make sense.

Can you imagine a world in which enough childcare spots exist, families pay little to none, and teachers are paid thriving wages? We can! #FundChildCare
