Context influences DEI efforts and policy: before prescribing solutions, it’s important to measure baseline bias, as well-intended pressure can temporarily overshoot in already inclusive environments.

Today, racial discrimination is illegal. This does not mean that racial discrimination has fully disappeared, but it is also plausible to assume that many (hopefully most) organizations have no ongoing systematic discrimination.
