We’re celebrating the ideals we stand for in spite of all their bullshit. We’ve defeated fascists before and by damn we’ll do it again. And we will not forget or forgive a single innocent life lost in the meantime.

I’m not surprised it took 43 years to get an apology, but it is still heartbreaking. I’m a big old nobody who wasn’t even a twinkle in my parents’ eye back then, but I am sorry to you and everyone else who had to suffer through that. And that you have to watch this shit happening again.
