He/him, ttrpg enthusiast, not actually a turtle. Known as Fnorder/Fnordington in other places.
Unless one really is as old as one feels. In that case you have two ways of swaying that balance in your favour!

I've heard of Pendragon being played this way, since it has inter-generational play the question of bringing up heirs can be an issue. While parenthood itself is not a mechanical thing, that itself leaves room for all sorts of experiences in the feudal noble context.

It's been an honour and a privilege. Can't wait for the next thing from your group, whether it's Wolves of God (as mentioned in passing) or something else. The finale might finally motivate me to run the Cthulhu-flavoured Byzantine expedition to post-arturian Britannia thing.

38 and in Poland and I'm biting my nails hoping we won't be part of another "coalition of the willing". Last time we were just stupid to join, this time much on our eastern border depends on your administration's position, so pressure can be exerted.

Ea-nāṣir, is that you? Did you hack Eric's bluesky account from Irkalla?

@breebunn.bsky.social isn't that V's cousin?

Yup, realised that's what I should've done where minions who would wilter when the boss does were presented toy players and they promptly ignored them 😅 But the boss was a ghost, so they'll have a chance to fight them again 😉

Good to know, I've been looking for a relatively simple game which could handle troupe play, aiming to get some people at work interested perhaps. But first I have to infiltrate the existing board game group.

Yup, in Poland we use "I'm tired of proving I'm not a camel" as an idiom for frustration with impossible situations, esp. with regards to public institutions.

I think Holmes reprinted Gygax's introduction to OD&D and I know for sure Moldvay uses "role playing game" as a term, but that's 1980. So I think 1e AD&D, but I don't have the '78 players guide to check.

Tricky, because early D&D didn't use the term, and from what I remember there was some contemporary controversy whether "roleplaying" is applicable to those sorts of games. OD&D does somewhat explain how it should be played, but very poorly and with an assumption of wargaming experience.

Should be. The "Conspyramid" is nice and all, but it pales in comparison with the "Vampyramid" which is in the very same game! "Spyangle" doesn't force this unfair comparison.

Both as a focus point on anti-colonialism and, sadly, as a rallying point for the Far Right.

And if three years at the Faculty of Oriental Studies taught me anything other than basic Arabic grammar and how fascinating heterodoxies are, is that the Crusades are more alive in modern political thought than they were for many who lived through them.

That's a tough one and totally up to you. For me it's always a curious dance between the need to escape from the depressing reality of humanity's struggles with our darkest nature and taking inspiration from history, when working on my pretend-dragon-games 😅

Or the second-born, like some noble families did with their children being expected to follow a Church career (with appropriate endowment) while the heir inherits. Though the analogy between the Blood War and the Crusades puts first-borns on the front, indeed.

That's not fair! Henry only axed one third of his wives.

I saw it in Warsaw a few years back, and I confirm - it's amazing.

Then again we had lots of reruns in the Eastern Block, so much of our animation an children's programming is an intergenerational experience.

What was that about applying colonial policies domestically? "Imperial boomerang"?

I ran "Fear Itself" as a Halloween/Dziady oneshot, and fell in love with GUMSHOE. Even ported the scenario to CoC for a contest, but I always run it in FI 😊
