What do you think Manfred can do about blackouts? The contracts are what they are and he’s indicated he wants to change this when media rights come back up. Maybe to model it after the MLS. I really don’t understand the Manfred hate with what he’s done with pitch clock, DH, increase SB etc.

I’m going to stick up for Manfred. The pitch clock, universal DH (arguably great for the players), no shift, more balanced schedules, expanded playoffs, bigger bases/pick off move limits have all put baseball back as the number 2 sport in the US. He has no current control over blackouts.

And after reading you don’t think that’s a bad with how he pitches but I don’t know. The 04 Royals opened the season with 4 lefties and it did not go well. He might be an outlier lefty but the other 3 while great I don’t like have a potential 1, 2, 3 of all lefties no matter how great they are

Not that I wouldn’t want him, but how many lefties do they want in the rotation?

I guess I’m in the extreme minority that actually doesn’t hate this. It’s out there and I don’t think it will be implemented, but I like trying to get more strategy into the game which I think has been lost since the DH has become universal.
