Vouchers build deeper discrimination into our education system while bleeding the already underfunded public schools of funding critical for programs and services. The people who like this kind of policy obviously aren’t considering the greater good.

The vouchers do not cover enough of the cost of private schools to put attendance financially in reach for most families so there is also a negative impact on families with less income.

The private schools that do accept students with disabilities charge more for the services they offer to those students. That structures the system to treat students with disabilities differently and less favorably—to discriminate.

Diverting public funds to private institutions who are under no obligation to provide a free and appropriate education to any student with a disability erodes those civil rights. Most private schools won’t accept students with disabilities at all.

Students with disabilities are currently protected by laws that establish their civil rights. The foundation of those rights is FAPE—a free and appropriate public education.

Once a month or so, we go "spoon-diving" under the seats in the car, sofa cushions, under beds, in the kids' closets, bathrooms, etc. Most are recovered, but some remain MIA. 😂
