“There's only one rule that I know of, babies-‘God damn it, you've got to be kind’.”
Bob Hope? I knew a female reporter who went to interview Bob Hope. He was a sexist asshole to her until he learned what she was there for and then turned as charming as could be. So I guess he would fit in with Trump’s people, except they don’t bother with the public charm.

That’s why Trump wanted him. It wasn’t to run Defense. It wasn’t to advise the Commander in Chief. It was to professionally parrot Trump’s talking points in photo op after photo op. He was hired to perform on TV.

@cnn.com and @msnbc.com why aren’t you covering this live?
February 3, 2025 at 6:10 PM
Barbara, do we know that was the issue? Because the messages I’ve seen from Colombia seem to reference respect and dignity for their people. I really wonder if the abuse on the Brazilian flight wasn’t a major influence on yesterday’s skirmish.

The wall? Or are they building more prisons to hold immigrants?

I generally forget Carrie Underwood exists but since hearing today’s news I just keep remembering that live broadcast of The Sound of Music. She played Maria. And every time she stopped singing and tried to act, all I could do was laugh. She was so bad that the memory still makes me laugh.

Sometimes I think Trump would qualify for that defense—that he isn’t capable of knowing what is true and what is false.
January 9, 2025 at 3:20 AM
Yes, as I said, obvious satire is a defense. And the article you posted said it was clearly satire so not libelous.
January 9, 2025 at 3:17 AM
Word of caution that unless a reasonable person would recognize a false and libelous post as satire then posting slander which you know is false can open you to lawsuits which you would likely lose. Just ask Giuliani.

Totally agree. She was a victim of Trump’s lies, even if she was an enthusiastic victim. The whole day was disgusting and terrifying and sad.

Aren’t a lot of fake or propaganda accounts just following each other? Incestuously boosting their numbers?

I still swear, though, that I sometimes wonder why Tidal through my $5k audio set-up doesn’t sound right, only to discover it’s playing at CD quality. Bump it up to 96 kHz and it sounds right. Something good is happening at higher frequencies.
December 3, 2024 at 7:07 PM
I can download Tidal at MAX resolution which is up to 24-bit, 192 kHz but Bluetooth would downgrade it. And you may say that I can’t hear the difference but I’m clinging to my delusions.
December 3, 2024 at 5:32 PM
Yes! Tidal or Qobuz with a HiFi streamer into a tube amp and great speakers. No ear fatigue, just complexity and full soundstage. Not cheap but even wired headphones are far sweeter than Bluetooth.
December 3, 2024 at 4:55 PM
Traumatically higher? I assume you meant dramatically but I’m loving that typo. If music can cause joy then surely it can cause trauma as well, right?
December 3, 2024 at 4:51 PM
I, too, am counting on it being bluster. I can’t imagine Trump’s billionaire buddies will stand for devaluing share prices.
November 27, 2024 at 2:04 PM
Lots of people with fatal diseases advocate for this approach but I’ve seen how it is usually false hope that degrades their quality of life and drains their bank accounts. My husband & my cousin both suffered crazy protocols to save their lives. They’re both gone. Early approval causes harm.

I wouldn’t add RFK Jr at the same level as the others, as I suspect institutionalists will moderate the effects of his anti-vaccine efforts. Processes will have time to work and bad stuff can eventually be reversed. But Gabbard in national security? Not sure we can reverse that.

Wenger, yeah—he’ll do what he wants in office. But also yeah—we don’t have to call it a mandate. Two truths. One world. Kumbaya.
November 19, 2024 at 10:37 PM
Wenger, frankly I think it does matter whether the media accepts that word. We need to discuss the choices of the next administration truthfully and that starts with recognizing the country is pretty evenly split over choosing Trump, let alone these choices. Can we at least be honest?
November 19, 2024 at 9:59 PM
It has annoyed me for the many decades of my voting life that presidents claim mandates when they won by only a few percentage points. Trump won by less but I'm not new to this game of bitching about claimed mandates.

He claims their changes are improving student performance? Apparently their “changes” were to relax the scoring system so students can test as proficient even if they aren’t. oklahomavoice.com/2024/08/21/o...
Oklahoma's education department quietly made changes that will cause big jumps in state test scores • Oklahoma Voice
Oklahoma made significant changes to state testing scoring methods, resulting in far more students being marked as proficient.

Apparently that DOGE account is a parody. Scary how close parody is to reality nowadays though.
November 17, 2024 at 1:57 PM
I’m in a red state and this is spot on. Election Day was doubly hard for me because I worked the polls and my GOP partner, a very nice older man, kept telling me that he believes none of what the MSM tells him. His son and his son’s friends get all their news from podcasts. How do we fight that?
November 15, 2024 at 10:35 PM
I feel like a lot of this is intended as a blitzkrieg to scare the opposition before the battle really begins. It will be a great time to be a first amendment lawyer but truth is still a really good defense.
