I have had much of the kumbaya aggressively beaten out of me over the past several years but if it’s any comfort whatsoever, I can at least say that every single time I thought nothing good would happen again I was wrong, and I’ve never looked back and thought “so glad I spent my time panicking!”

oh no doubt -- she was quite suddenly near death and the hotel concierge said "better chance for immediate treatment at a private hospital," which may or may not be true, but all decisions were made in seconds, no time to do research

friend had emergency in Spain, went to private Spanish hospital. Spent a couple of days in the ICU and a couple in a reg. room. They told her v v gravely/worriedly she would have to cover entire cost of bill in cash, so she was nervous, but . . . it was $6,000. 3 zeroes. I think of that ALL THE TIME

friend had emergency in Spain, went to private Spanish hospital. Spent a couple of days in the ICU and a couple in a reg. room. They told her v v gravely/worriedly she would have to cover entire cost of bill in cash, so she was nervous, but . . . it was $6,000. 3 zeroes. I think of that ALL THE TIME
