So, educators: PLEASE, resist this. Do what you do best: supporting our students whomever they are and however they show up. Outing them, forcing them in the closet does not help anyone and would make you a weapon of cruelty. RESIST.

The fact that this is unconstitutional, cruel, against the spirit and letter of Title IX, Title VII, the 14th Amendment, and so on - just means that Trump has just set people on our trans and queer youth knowing full well that it will be carried out regardless of illegality.

Gender expression have been included in Title IX protections for decades, which, considering Title IX is only 50 years old and sexual assault has only been prohibited by Title IX for 14 years: this is not a new facet of the law. This has been settled.

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance”

That’s it. That’s what it says.

Quick reminder that Title IX is about educational access and prohibiting discrimination. Conversations about fairness in sport are just attempts to distract from its purpose:
