Very weird experience at Lyon yesterday. Crowds of people and THIS sign. (No alarm btw). Everyone came down the stairs, looked at the sign, looked at everyone else not panicking, not evacuating, and just ... stayed. Are we lemmings?

Entirely baffled why these signs are STILL up on Vanier suggesting that one lane is closed. There are no closed lanes either North or South - not overnight, not sometimes, not at all! I don't know why this bothers me so much.

Here we go ... moving further to the right, further away from human rights ... I realize that this talks about GOP and Dems, but it applies in Canada too.

We just got back from Paris and the transformation is stunning. When I lived there years ago, cars were stuck in an endless traffic jam. Now, the residents have reclaimed streets and it's noticeably quieter (except for the damn sirens).
A road next to the Seine that used to be bumper to bumper cars, now used by cyclists and pedestrians. Sidewalk patios full of diners and lots of people walking and biking on what used to be a road for cars. Next to Canal Saint-Martin (10th arrondissement in Paris)
