Transit advocate (check out www.ottawatransitriders.ca), hockey fan ... BC transplant now living in Ottawa and fighting to build a better city.
Very weird experience at Lyon yesterday. Crowds of people and THIS sign. (No alarm btw). Everyone came down the stairs, looked at the sign, looked at everyone else not panicking, not evacuating, and just ... stayed. Are we lemmings?

Entirely baffled why these signs are STILL up on Vanier suggesting that one lane is closed. There are no closed lanes either North or South - not overnight, not sometimes, not at all! I don't know why this bothers me so much.

The Federal govt has big plans to address climate change. It's too bad the city of Ottawa is moving in the opposite direction. www.ottawatransitriders.ca/rowing_in_op...

Oh how sad. He was one of the greats, not only on the ice. Such a thoughtful guy - I have a bunch of his books.

Here we go ... moving further to the right, further away from human rights ... I realize that this talks about GOP and Dems, but it applies in Canada too.

Moosewood ... gave a copy to each kid as they moved out. Yum yum.

Come talk about transit at the mayor's BBQ on Saturday August 16th.

For no reason at all, I remember reading this book ...

This is such a sweet book - the Rosie Project.

What does AI remind me of?

Very interesting to read Canada's ambitions towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals: sdgcif-data-canada-oddcic-donnee.github.io/7/

Not worth it.

FreshCo does this too - VERY annoying!

Happy Canada day!

Grrr ... FreshCo lies. Their big sign says onions are products of Canada, but sticker on each onion says product of the US.

Earth by David Brin. I picked it up and it IS the lost long book. And it's every bit as amazing as I remember it.

AI reminds me of Clippy ... we said 'no' then and powers-that-be backed off. Why can't we say 'no' to AI?

Some trams in Prague are old-fashioned with steps and some are modern with low floors. This tram stop indicates which of the trams are accessible. @otttransitriders.bsky.social

When *I* go on holiday, I take pictures of bus stops. Here is a notice at a bus stop in Oslo promising to reimburse riders if they are delayed by more than 20 minutes. My god ... OC Transpo would go bankrupt. Expectations are higher in Norway. @otttransitriders.bsky.social

Just cracked open this fierce book on addressing climate change. Inspiring and frustrating at the same time (Naomi Klein never disappoints).

Well, it LOOKS negative, but this nasty bug sure feels like COVID. I wonder if the tests are still accurate?

We just got back from Paris and the transformation is stunning. When I lived there years ago, cars were stuck in an endless traffic jam. Now, the residents have reclaimed streets and it's noticeably quieter (except for the damn sirens).
