It dawned on me while talking to a pal. If I recall correctly, test presses are only available with commitment to a full pressing, otherwise you are just doing a run of 100 without tests.

Cash up front! Not that it made a difference, I still have hundreds of unsold records in my garage. That's what I get for actually pressing 400+ copies of things.

I got paid for the one batch I sent them. They just complained about the price.

Was never able to get the Murmuration LP.... Micro edition pricing related.

It's nice to be able to buy records by artists you like without having to be up at 4am to catch the latest micro edition drop. It's also nice to be able to see albums in stores because there are enough copies for shops to have copies turn people onto an artist.

It blows me away that labels even bother with only 100 copies. The per unit cost of even just 200 is so much more reasonable.

With my label, I had no overseas distro. It was insane to ship even ten copies to a shop like Volcanic Tongue. It really killed my ability to do anything, and that was 15 years ago. I'm curious how labels like Feeding Tube & Cardinal Fuzz & We Here & Now are doing their co-release runs.

Also, I believe stampers are also machine specific, not universal. So you or a label would have to use the same plant for any represses.

Might be cheaper to find a plant that does runs of 100? Also risky, I once tried to do an advance run of 25 and it was a disaster. Led to 3 recuts and 10+ test presses. Total waste of money.

My buddy who lent me them all said that Borne maybe, in theory, takes place in the world after the shimmer envelopes the whole world.

Borne was pretty good.

Disappointed this is a dime of missile coverage, not an actual golden dome.
