As a man I'm going to say it's a huge social improvement women are now sufficiently free enough to not have to marry if/when they don't want to. Also good for men in the long run since it creates a kind of "free market" incentive to improve their quality.

Walmart and $800 aside, proposing in front of others is inconsiderate. It puts the person on the spot and makes it embarrassing to say "no" even if it's just "no, not yet". I suppose there is some leniency if you've both already discussed it so you basically know it's "yes" already.

Thankfully we've, at least for now, reached a point when different Christian sects are no longer killing each other. Vance stands out as a poster child for why perhaps the First Nations should have let the incompetent Christians die instead of saving them.

Initiate a "CalAid" donor supported charity fund which, initially, focuses on keeping rural NPR/PBS stations on the air -- with stations announcing the aid source like they did with CPB. Let's get some positive press in rural red areas to counter the FoxNews/Republican anti-California propaganda.

Had a MAGA Cult adult nephew die needlessly of Covid complications during Trump's 1st term. He followed the right wing messaging of continuing to congregate in crowds, ignore masking, & shun the vaccine. Spent a year in ICU fighting all kinds of complications until his body finally had enough.

Thankfully Kaiser has started treating the new corrupted CDC recommendations with skepticism. From my wife's and my experience it seems Kaiser is doing their usual preventative medicine incentivizing for all members to get the latest flu and Covid shots.
