The last dark morning for awhile. As much as I hate daylight savings, and darkness at 5pm, I will savor this earlier morning brightness.

Because I didn't set stitch length correctly, I now have an un-rippable facing on my lurid red dress. Also, is the martini for me, or for The Raven? Janome says it's self-lubricating, but a drop wouldn't hurt, would it? Sharing is caring...

The Serenity Prayer has been part of addiction recovery programs since 1941. But as useful as it is, it is inadequate for the situation we find ourselves in today. What do we do with the things we cannot change, but that our values will not allow us to accept?

A day of subbing that made my whole body, mind, and spirit itch, and a dive into news and social media, plus too much wine in an attempt to cure what ails me, and even tacos didn't work their magic. Taking the next week off. You will see me here and not there.

Chicago Supermarket only serves posole on Sundays, and I am there for it. And will be, ongoing.

the recipe says you don't have to soak but as a person who eats beans multiple times a week i think you should brine your beans www.seriouseats.com/baking-soda-...
Why You Should Soak Beans in a Salt and Baking Soda Brine Before Cooking
Soaking beans in a solution of salt and baking soda yields creamy, cooked beans in less time.

This sock is knitting itself. I'm in love with the color way, and how well it's behaving. Not exactly a stripe, but color distribution isn't garish.

Julia, Ray, and I hiked to the 2nd highest waterfall in Virginia last week. It was the most glorious forest bathing I have done this year. Maybe ever. Somehow, we didn't manage a group selfie, in spite of not having been together since 1986.

My attempt to grow buckeyes pays off. Collected conks at Charlie Elliott, 18 months ago. Cold stratified them in the fridge, in a damp towel, planted, pouted because there was no sign of life last spring. Learned they aren't easy to grow. Now a happy accident! When I feel dark, old, and weak, HOPE!

I'm seriously considering using this as a replacement for my Instagram account, originally started in 2014, mostly as a Visual Record of Life, rather than any real attempt at social media. The algorithmic nonsense has disappointed me, and while I won't take that account down, I like a clean slate.
