Like everything with this regime, the need is unfounded. ICE is housed in one building, in what is now a mostly residential area of SW Portland. So, they are sending in troops not to protect people, they will be there to protect a building. And not even a federal building, they lease the space!

It currently costs about $1M per day to have the troops deployed in DC.
However, FEMA posted recently that DC and surrounding areas would receive $20 million less this year from its urban security fund, reducing the funding to $25.2 million and amounting to a 44% cut.

In Oregon we have had mail in voting since 2006. The reality is that most people do not mail in the ballots, instead they put them into an election drop boxes, which are monitored and picked up at least once a day.
