I hate it too but gotta say, as a high school band director when you need a tune for a sporting event in a pinch it’s like 4 notes and requires virtually zero rehearsal to play.

FWIW it gets them clear of the Macy’s parade broadcast in the central time zone. May have something to do with it. NFL doesn’t like to share tv windows.

So many grown adult professionals I’m surrounded by that plan their whole lives around Mizzou homecoming weekend. It’s wild.

I’m not an alum, merely a fan by proximity. But living amongst alums and spending a lot of time in Columbia now I can tell you nobody drinks their own kool-aid like Mizzou people. Frankly I understand now why they’ve always been mediocre, because it’s just accepted.

I generally enjoy the holiday season but the expectation of what they “should” be is frequently depressing and paralyzing. I wish things could just “be” in whatever form makes each of us happiest.

Nope…he could do exactly what he’s doing right now for the rest of his career and have a statue when he’s done. That’s why I think he’d be crazy to leave.

I often think about the idea that we just eliminate the gift giving part of the Holidays for everyone but kids. Just spend time with people that are important to you, share a meal or two. Would save everyone a lot of stress and money most of us can’t afford anyway.

I know they couldn’t care less about anyone’s financial standing. But even if your stated goal is for people to have more kids, this isn’t going to get you there.

Just beyond comprehension that they are not intelligent enough to understand that it’s nearly impossible to raise a family now without two incomes in a household.
