Prime Minister Carney launches new Major Projects Office to fast-track nation-building projects
Today, the Prime Minister, Mark Carney, launched the new Major Projects Office (MPO). The MPO is headquartered in Calgary and will have offices in other major Canadian cities.

These projects need to have financing structured and co-ordinated, and they need to have regulatory approval processes done faster. The Major Projects Office will support doing both.

We took a major step in that work today: we announced the creation of the Major Projects Office, to help fast-track nation-building projects — protecting Canada’s rigorous environmental standards and upholding the rights of Indigenous Peoples.

Yes David, it includes new money announced in the 2024 Budget -- increasing the annual value of master’s and doctoral students’ scholarships to $27,000 and $40,000, respectively, and post-doctoral fellowships to $70,000. And an increase for granting councils too.
