Even more sickening is when an organization like the Wisconsin Historical Society takes 100 year+ old normally FOIA applicable documents like vital records to make $15 a pop on.

Nice. You know I'm not so sure CA is the best place for a data center. It would be ideal to have another public facing set of servers somewhere else with fallover support.

Not sure how things work in New Zealand, but couldn't they have a public book sale? A few times a year my public library sells out books pulled from circulation to make way for the new ones. Seems smarter than trashing them

Generally I have found they won't library loan anything they only have one copy of. This makes that one copy virtually useless to anyone else.

I've had little luck ever getting anything from the LOC... Is information never shared really a loss (it is, but just saying)?
