Trying every day to inspire young girls (who didn’t ask to grow up in all this mess) & just making silly stuff that will hopefully bring them some joy, too.

Elizabeth Segran, a writer at Fast Company, explores why we are seeing a kids magazines revival. On NPR’s Marketplace, she says, “Kazoo is the magazine that arguably launched this new movement. It’s focused on kids age 5-12. In particular it really wants to help girls grow up strong and confident.”

This is not about a fear that these books might turn kids gay, it’s fear that they might help children empathize w others who are different. Opting out of empathy and understanding is the least “religious” thing to do.

Books with Black/brown characters and LGBTQ+ characters are getting banned because banning books is the first step towards banning people. Contact your local library and school board and tell them you support the freedom to read, for everyone.
