Happy to finally see my chapter in print! In“YHWH the Tyrant!?” I analyze the depiction and role the God of the Hebrew Bible play in anime/manga! I argue how the memory of Christian colonialism is reflected in the negative portrayal of YHWH as a foreign deity who opposes Japanese beliefs/traditions

I had a wonderful time teaching a doctoral intensive on the Book of Ezra! As it is a book often quoted as a paradigm of leadership, my doctorate in ministry students studied how to exegete the text and to apply it to their own ministry context!

Starting the academic year with communion. The right way to acknowledge how our teaching is rooted in Christ’s work!

Proofs are in! In this chapter, I analyse the role and portrayal of Yahweh in Japanese anime and manga! It should be out before AAR/SBL 2025!

I will be giving a lecture on the topic of “The Biblical Archaeology of the Persian Period” in Japanese at the Tokyo Museum of Biblical Archaeology.” I am stoked to share my research in my mother tongue with the Japanese people!

I appeared on the third episode of the History Channel's Holy Marvels, titled "An Eye for an Eye." You can see me commenting on Japan's samurai and Bushido culture.

If you are traveling on Thanksgiving day, I learned that the only restaurant open is IHOP

Watching one of those feel good Christmas movies and shocked that in the culminating scene they changed the lyric of “All Holy Night” from “the night Christ was born” to the more ambiguous “the night he was born.” This is silly because we know Christmas celebrates Jesus’s birth.

In the latest issue of Bulletin for Biblical Research you will find my review of Gary Knoppers’s last work. It’s a dense edited volume of his various essays on Chronicles, Ezra/Nehemiah, DtrH, and Persian Period historiography, so I hope that people find this review helpful!

According to this list, archaeologists are one of the most interesting and attractive guys right? I mean we read, study (dead) foreign languages, write, take photos of objects, and travel internationally.

I just found the best Bible themed board game! In this Euro game, you are collecting resources to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem! While most Bible themed board games are a poor knock off of a different game, this is by a reputable company, it is original, and the theme works great!
