Located in Njardvík, which is adjacent to Keflavík, it is one of two churches in the parish. It was designed by two architects, Ormar Þór Guðmundsson and Örnólfur Hall, and opened in 1979.

I came across this old fishing equipment at an abandoned fishing village near Grindavík on my first visit to Iceland.
Not 100% sure, but I think it is an old fishing boat winch.
I decided to make it black and white. Can you guess what colour the machinery actually is?

Why pseudocraters? Unlike volcanic eruption craters they form when extremely hot thin molten lava flows over wetlands, boiling the water until steam pressure causes explosions.

Something you’ll see a lot of in Iceland that you may not realize…mossy lava fields.
The mossy vegetation is about the only thing that grows on the hardened lava and it is very fragile so you’re not allowed to walk on it. It’s also dangerous to do so anyway so please don’t be tempted.

This weekend’s forecasted snow storm started about an hour ago, very gently at first but it just got heavier. Let’s see whether my outdoor kitties will be buried by the time it ends sometime tomorrow!
