I said the same thing to my wife several times. I feel like I'm actually learning about the past living through what we're experiencing now. There WAS so much that was weird and hard to understand about earlier (similar) eras that I currently say to myself "oh...I get it now."

the hypernormalization of *gestures broadly at everything* has really been something to behold.
It would make for an interesting study if it wasn't so absurdly cruel and damaging to millions of people.
