I preferred the gen II e-Reader cards because they actually had all the interesting minigames and programs on them. The gen III ones were just Pokedex info and a random glossary item.

I'll probably get it, as the DLCs for Sword/Shield and Scarlet/Violet have been my favorite parts of those games. But I still feel like I need more information on the gameplay. I'm hoping for something like the Path of Solitude that will keep me coming back for more.

(unfortunately you can't use the GBC startup to change the color scheme of original Game Boy games)

The Game Boy app now has a startup easter egg similar to the GBA and GameCube apps. Hold a direction on a control stick while the program boots and it will play the Game Boy or GBC startup sequence depending on which visual option you have set.
