They've acquired other properties from the land bank but this parcel happened to be owned by Parks & Rec. Benson said this is part of the airport expansion plans, which will be moving further West, but this doesn't seem urgent based on plan's timeline and status today.

Resolution transferring a property from Parks & Rec to the Airport Dept. Benson asked if the administration plans to replace 26-acres(?) of park land in D3. The department said this park/property is unused. The airport will use this parcel for the "Safety Zone Initiative."

The administration said it was just a typo, the correct amount is $750,000.

The grant appropriation is approved.

A resident who has difficulties with speech commented about stray animals. It was hard to understand what exactly her concern is, but she said they need to figure out a way to hold owners accountable.

6. Wants council to hold off on voting on high-profile matters until new council members are seated. Wanted council to be aware of two petitions circulating related to voting and isn't in favor of ranked choice voting or spending millions on elections equipment.

Cunningham said things need to change to improve the system and that buses are running late.

5. Mr. Cunningham is collecting donations for gloves, hats, hand warmers, bus tickets, etc. Asked everyone to keep DDOT drivers in their prayers as they prepare to vote for their next contract, which he said is very good. "I make money off a bad bus system, but I care too much to let it sit."

4. Working on 27-page "statement of facts" and has concerns about BZA fees. Seems to be referencing a matter he brought to council before. Also concerned about the council's procedures for approving contracts and recently-approved ordinance that changed the rules. Wants it changed again.

3. Concerned that SNAP benefits isn't a priority for the committee given it's name, asked if City could stock food banks in every district. Thinks committee isn't focused on the neighborhoods. "You all are awful"she said. Thinks they're too interested in befriending corporations.
December 8, 2025 at 8:55 PM
2. Thinks councilmembers take turns playing "good cop, bad cop" knowing what will be approved. Unhappy that her questions weren't answered during the recent meeting about Uniroyal site (i.e. dirty dirt, real estate deals, etc.). Wants council to stop taking people's word for things like dirt quality
