FM-trained rural emerg doc. Mom of 4 amazing kids, owned by way too many pets, total nerd.
This picture of Jedi and a tiny female zebra jumping spider is one of my recent favourites.

The spider did a little threat display - they stand tall and put their abdomen up - when Jedi moved, then settled and tried to hide under her leg.

In our three sisters garden, the beans have decided to tie everything together. Here is one of the purple pole beans that grew about 60cm over to gently grab one of the pumpkin leaves.

Rhys is doing the most little brother thing ever and chasing Charlie and Maisie around with a huge beetle he found in the garden.

It’s hot. Our heat pump (which does the A/C) is still pooched despite a second board being replaced.

While complaining of being hot and sticky, we had to decide what to do with a bunch of lemons.

Briefly considered pie, curd, bars.

Nah. I put the kids to work juicing. Perfect lemonade.

I made a Tudor England strawbrrry tart from Tasting History.

It is delicious.

Future lemon cucumbers. They’re just what they sound like - cucumbers that look like lemons.

Maisie picked this variety and she’s very excited to eat them.

Rhys asked me to come to the living room because he made “a talking place where all the people talk about important things like how to get better when you’re sick.”

My kids are playing medical conference.

He said Batman is next up to speak.

Productive day. Made a cherry almond buckle (recipe from one of my favourite sites,) sour cherry jam, and since fresh jam requires fresh bread, I made some french bread.

“Tradwife” content, meet atheist divorcee content.

Found a sign at How Bazaar and I’m not sure if I want to hang it up in the staff room or above my bedroom door.

Used the last of the cherries from the one tree to make jam. Absolutely delicious.

I would never make this if I had to buy them. Cherries are freaking expensive.

Made a cheesecake from scratch and topped it with a compote made of the cherries from my tree.

It’s pretty awesome. They were a Pepsi display thing in the 90s and there are still a handful of usable ones around so when my friend saw there was one for sale near Charlottetown I picked it up for her.

This is what it looks like (didn’t take a picture of the one I picked up.)

When your friends are also nerds but out of town when something comes up for sale you go pick up the life sized R2D2 cooler and bring it back to their apartment…

I am not above climbing trees to harvest fruit.

The tart Montmorency cherries should start being ready to pick next week. For now we’re enjoying the sweet rainier cherries.

Had to stop to take a picture on my way to swordfighting. I live in such a beautiful place.

Itty bitty cherry thief.

Canada Day festivities in Charlottetown are always right on the water at Victoria Park. It’s nice to just get to cool off on the dock.

When mom’s a doctor your play hospital has an MRI, a code team, and multiple point of care ultrasound machines.

So far, one perfect cherry. It was delicious. There are tons that are about 90% ripe and the birds are eating them since we didn’t get to the netting today, but will do that tomorrow.

Jedi pulled a Tim Hortons wrapper out of the garbage and was very sad it did not contain any treats for her so she just curled up beside it in her crate and gave me sad lab eyes.

Please appreciate my very large and pretty amanita mushrooms that we will not be eating.

Maisie (covered in dirt because she was drawing with some charcoal) wanted to go pick some daisies with her puppy.

We have a ton of wildflowers so the house is never empty of them during the summer.

Fought in a swordfighting tournament earlier today and came in 3rd in my division (novice.) My first ever sporting medal.

Now the big kids, my mother, & I are seeing the 2025 opening night of Tell Tale Harbour! It’s a musical about a small town and a doctor. Playing at Mirvish in Toronto this fall!
